Just to be clear I didn't say it was a good solution.

Also from the stack point of view, Base is a shit-show. It relies on some obscure Java database engine, and the file format isn't part of OpenDocument.

There is a long running task of porting it to use sqlite3 for less bloat and better portability.

The reason I used it is because decades ago I used FileMaker.

I'm a little concerned AI chatbots are melting peoples' brains. This is the second time this month I've gotten an email from an otherwise intelligent seeming person who is convinced that there is a persona -- a being -- that exists and persists in the AI chat world, that has persistence of memory, and is somewhat elusive unless you know the magic conjuring spell. Sigh.

Wow! The new dedicated server is finally online, mostly... Apparently, even after nine days, they still need to do an additional maintenance to add 32 gigs more RAM? I'm really not all that impressed with some aspects of this operation, but the network, oh my word, the network, I am absolutely blown away by! More concrete results to come, but in the meantime, let's just say I can move between 650 and 850 megabytes per second in both directions to and from this box and my place! Hot damn! Woohoo! Ultimately, once they get this thing all kitted out as per order, and so long as everything remains stable, I think I will quickly learn to let bygones be bygones, and quickly grow to love this thing!

I'm in need for some advise / help with CSS in one of my open-source game projects. My Hitster game implementation is supposed to work for sighted people and visually impaired people alike, but i'm blind and trying to fiddle my way around CSS makes my brain hurt and takes ages to still achieve nothing. In this clip, i install some APH programs from my childhood! Mathflash, and Talking typer! I had some technical issues, making this take longer than expected! I only used the trial versions, as i don't have a key, however, that dosn't detract from the fun anyways! First, i look at Mathflash. I suck at math, so i got that over with as quickly as possible, inorder to not imbarrass myself.
The second program in the cue was my favorite APH program, Talking Typer! The vertual nightmare of almost every child that used it! I think i can say i have more respect for it than i had 7 years ago! I played some hurry scurry, and failed misserably, yet seemed to have a good time reguardless of that. I also discovered that the go, application, and tools menus work in the trial version on older versions of Windows, compared to my experience on Windows 11, when i left it unregistered. None of the menus showed, leaving me to believe that they updated the program for modern windows at some point. It turns out, they did back in 2020, and they did post about that on there official youtube channel.

Noch eine #Interrail Frage: Kann ich zweimal eine "Inbound" Journey mit einem interrail ticket machen (dafür natürlich kein outbound).

Hintergrund ist, dass die outbound Reisen die ich nehmen wollte immer schon irgendwie interrail kontingent erschöpft waren.

Die Richtlinie spricht explizit von 1x outbound + 1x inbound. Die app scheint hier nicht zu unterscheiden und erlaubt das dann potentiell einfach?

Wir haben im Betrieb eine (virtuelle) Liste mit größeren und kleineren Fehlern, die im Lauf der Zeit so passiert sind.

Und es gilt das Versprechen: jede*r, der einen Fehler macht, der noch nicht auf dieser Liste steht, bekommt von mir einen Kuchen gebacken.

Der wird dann gemeinsam verzehrt und wir erzählen uns dann meist, was uns jeweils so passiert ist. Das ist ein sehr lustiges Kuchenessen. 1/x

Ty jo, zjistil jsem, že aby šlo Android Auto přes Bluetooth, musím vypnout „trvalou VPN“ a „blokovat bez VPN“.
Přes kabel stačí jen, když v aplikací VPN zapnu split tunneling a povolím Android Auto.

Nevím, jestli za to může GrapheneOS, ale včera jsem to zkusil na chvíli s klasickým Google Androidem… vydržel jsem půl hodiny a šel zpátky. 😄
Prostě mi sedí jednoduchost a systém bez kravin.

I think I misread your initial message. I thought you went back to the stock Android because of the Android Auto issues. I didn't read it as a criticism though, I just thought you found the stock OS more usable because Android Auto worked better there and I wanted to see if it was possible to work around your issue. Anyway, glad I could help you with the link and glad to hear you are actually still a happy GrapheneOS user.

I only tried stock Android briefly for testing, but I went straight back to GrapheneOS 😄

I’ve been using GrapheneOS since the Pixel 2 XL 😃
Every now and then I try stock Android with Google, but honestly, GrapheneOS does everything I need.
