In the decades-long process of getting my fvwm config JUST RIGHT, my xterm right-click menu now has a "duplicate" command, which opens a new xterm with the same geometry, on the same node, IN THE SAME DIRECTORY. (Directory info aquired via /proc.)

Figured out how to make freerdp play nicely. I can't believe by default it doesn't just use the /dynamic-resolution flag so you can resize the window and it will work correctly instead of just stretching a tiny resolution RDP session by default

We have released 1.0 of the #CHERIoT specification! The architecture has been unchanged for almost a year and has been implemented in two open-source cores. We (SCI) are getting back our first CHERIoT silicon from the fab soon and will be moving to mass production net year (I can't talk about what other people are doing with CHERIoT).

I still haven't figured out what causes mine. It's definitely stronger in winter than in summer, definitely stronger at my parents place than at my own.
My hypothesis is "ambient air pressure."

I have four devices: 2x 2TB and 2x 1TB
I could concatenate a 1TB and a 2TB together, then mirror over both.
It can survive one device dying. However, it seems like an ugly risky hack.
But it's not. It's the same risk level, is it not, as 4x 2TB drives in the same configuration. Right?

Ubiquiti is using mongodb 3.6 in its installation instructions for self-hosting the UniFi controller.
Support for mongodb 3.6 ended in April 2021, as far as I can tell.
So while I've got an up to date UniFi installation, the database behind it is *very* old.
Updating mongodb to something more modern (e.g. 7) is painful.
Very painful.
Fortunately - with lots of backups - uninstalling mongodb 3.6 and purging unifi, then installing mongodb 7 and reinstalling unifi, then restoring unifi from backup, worked.

Fortunately, that installs all the latest stuff, which is fine for a new install. Not sure how it would handle a really old database format, though, as I don't have a UniFi installation that goes back that far.
Yeah, I bet they also still recommend using Oracle's Java rather than OpenJDK, but I haven't looked.

Space Debris is one of my favorite MOD files. I was always interested in how they were produced, and wanted to try doing that myself, but never found a good tracker program that was usable by blind composers.
@kjsapergia Yup, same here. I remember trying to make VocalEyes work with those Dos trackers, but it never worked out.
I agree. I'm now using OpenMPT to play MOD files, but Foobar2000 also does a good job as well.

Raz sme zastavili v kolibe pod Donovalmi, hladní. Prezerám jedálny a že bryndzové halušky s jelením gulášom. Výbuch smiechu, kto si toto môže dať? Ale na nič z ponuky som nedostal extra chuť. Prišiel čašník, že čo to bude. Hovorím, neviem. Že mám si dať bryndzové s jelením. Hovorím, nech nežartuje. Že Maďari si to dávajú. To som spozornel, oni sú mlsné huby. Tak že dobre 😳 Bolo to vynikajúce. Naberačka gulášu bola v strede, ako slanina, nie bokom.
hele ale toto nemusí byť zlé.. nad tým chlebom žasnem asi kvôli výchove, u nás to takto nikdo nejedol mám pocit

Turns out this is a misconfiguration on my nginx setup. It takes the ?name parameter and stuff that as the filename into Content-Disposition which browsers of course take as a literal input and include the pluses in the filename dialog.
I guess this is another reason why nginx cannot be used to serve media in certain configurations, because if it is served by Pleroma, the header is correct.

I've been told that Parallels no longer allows for Bluetooth passthrough without using an external dongle. That was the main reason I wanted to use Parallels, since Fusion doesn't do this anymore, either, as I need braille support on both Mac and Windows at the same time.
So, my options, apparently, are:
Plug the display into an available USB port, pass that through to the Windows VM and use Bluetooth for the Mac host, or keep a bluetooth dongle connected at all times when using a VM.
Unfortunately, I can't completely avoid Windows.

Huh yeah, removed in 26 because it wasn;'t used often enough apparently. I bet some manager is happy about the supposed savings... You could potentially also stick to Parallels 25 for now which I think still works on the newest Mac OS
I did not realize that the Sequoia PGP project had a "Chameleon" project that just pretends to be gnupg for compatibility. That's kinda neat.

Vhsky.cz provozujeme už skoro rok a víme, že dokážeme dobře poskytovat videa na vyžádání, tento víkend jsme si ale ukázali, že zvládneme i streamování větší konference. Celá akce nám přinesla velké množství zkušeností, které jsem shrnul v tomto blogovém zápisku.
