Has anyone extensively played the audio action RPG Fantasy Story 2? I'm looking for something like ShadowLine, I understand it isn't quite like it but does it at least have a storyline with an ending?

@daniel I wonder if #IPv6 is working for monal? If IPv6 worked it should cut down on the need for STUN & TURN.

On my tiny server on the times I've looked I've certainly seen my one ipad user connected with an ipv6 address

in reply to Diane

@alienghic Just because it's IPv6 doesn't mean it's not firewalled 🤷‍♂️

In theory you are absolutely correct. In practice I simply don't know. IPv6 isn't available on any of the mobile carriers in Germany which means I can't test this.

in reply to Daniel Gultsch

@daniel
"IPv6 isn't available on any of the mobile carriers in Germany which means I can't test this."

🤔 Do you use a corporation APN or a strange MVNO?
Telekom, Vodafone, Telefonica and 1&1 provide IPv6.

in reply to Diane

@alienghic
Nearly all clients are connected via ipv6 on my server, but you can never be sure, people can use a stupid wifi etc. So it's good to have a turn server just in case.

My Alditalk mobile contract gives me ipv6 @daniel
Some in my family had ipv6 not enabled in the APN settings. I turned it on then then it just worked. Don't know why it isn't always the default.

in reply to Menel :xmpp:

@Menel @alienghic interesting. I just tested this again and I can establish direct IPv6 connections between two mobile phones on different carriers. I'm fairly certain this wasn't the case when I first developed and tested A/V calls. (or maybe my phones were set up incorrectly)

cc @tschaefer

in reply to Daniel Gultsch

@daniel
May very well be that it is newish for some carriers.
Progress 🎉

All in all I have the feeling Germany has nearly full support for ipv6 everywhere. (not in corporate networks, OK)
But it isn't bad anymore.

Here's a thread of a couple of things I've made with Maschine since it arrived on Tuesday.
This first one I made while following Native Instruments' accessibility guide video.
I like the vocal chop I did using one of the samples it comes with.

What's going on with all the plugin vendors thee days? Within the last three or four weeks there must have been at least five music box software instruments released by different companies. Why music boxes? Why now? :)

Happy 61st anniversary to the longest running British science fiction television program. #DoctorWho
in reply to David Goldfield

Wow! Has it been that long? I've got some catching up to do. Would you believe that I've never even seen one episode of the show? Don't hate me! Lol!
in reply to Martin from Toronto

Martin, I would never stoop so low as to hate someone just becausse they've never watched a single episode of Doctor Who. Certainly not. I would just block them and would ignore them for the rest of my life. No, no, just kidding, of course.
Yep, it really has been that long, although the show did go on a hiatus from 1988 until 2005. #DoctorWho

Never a dull moment around here I tell you. Especially now.
Bonnie, CEO at Mosen Towers, said,
“OK, new job, new country, new you”. And I said,
"hey, hang on, what’s wrong with the old me? Do you want to upgrade me after all these years?” She said,
“you should take the opportunity to completely refresh your wardrobe”. And I said,
“you realise there is an opportunity cost doing that, right?” She said, “what do you mean opportunity cost”? I said, “well, every dollar I spend on this frivolous activity is a dollar less I can spend on the necessities of life, like, buying gadgets”.
Well I didn’t win that one, so next thing I know, I am being bundled into an Uber. Bonnie even left her dog at home, so I couldn’t even get out of it with a good old classic Uber guide dog refusal. Ah, a cunning, fiendish plot.
Well, the Uber duly arrived at one of those fancy places that sells suits and other smart and expensive clothing items.
After a couple of hours of measuring, disappearing into a small room to change, leaving the small room and doing little twirls, pinning of cuffs, disappearing back into the little room with even more things to try, rinse, repeat, I was presented with a bill. Did I lose it when I got this bill? Lose it I did not. Instead, I turned it into a teachable moment.
I got out my little smartphone, and I opened the Apple Store, searched for a MacBook with very impressive specs that cost almost exactly the same amount, and showed it to Bonnie.
“There,” I said, “I know you didn’t take economics at school, but this MacBook, and these clothes, have taught you the principle of opportunity cost. Oy.”

Its 2024.

Florence Nightingale remains closer to correct about airborne spread of disease than the CDC, who refuse to abandon droplet dogma that exists solely so capitalists dont have to clean the air / pay the price for not doing so.

Federico Mena Quintero reshared this.

in reply to Hannu Ikonen

Heres a quick primer for those unawares.

wired.com/story/the-teeny-tiny…

"Marr is an aerosol scientist at Virginia Tech and one of the few in the world who also studies infectious diseases. To her, the new coronavirus looked as if it could hang in the air, infecting anyone who breathed in enough of it. For people indoors, that posed a considerable risk. But the WHO didn’t seem to have caught on. Just days before, the organization had tweeted “FACT: #COVID19 is NOT airborne.” That’s why Marr was skipping her usual morning workout to join 35 other aerosol scientists. They were trying to warn the WHO it was making a big mistake.

On the video call, tensions rose. At one point, Lidia Morawska, a revered atmospheric physicist who had arranged the meeting, tried to explain how far infectious particles of different sizes could potentially travel. One of the WHO experts abruptly cut her off, telling her she was wrong, Marr recalls. His rudeness shocked her. “You just don’t argue with Lidia about physics,” she says.

Morawska had spent more than two decades advising a different branch of the WHO on the impacts of air pollution. When it came to flecks of soot and ash belched out by smokestacks and tailpipes, the organization readily accepted the physics she was describing—that particles of many sizes can hang aloft, travel far, and be inhaled. Now, though, the WHO’s advisers seemed to be saying those same laws didn’t apply to virus-laced respiratory particles. To them, the word airborne only applied to particles smaller than 5 microns. Trapped in their group-specific jargon, the two camps on Zoom literally couldn’t understand one another."

It's very disappointing that after the many years of "partnership" between one of the major #Blindness organizations and #JPMorganChase they still do not produce their cards with all of the information #Brailled on the front face of the card especially since other financial institutions such as #Discover offer this with no proboem. And in my opinion a cardboard sleeve with the card information #Brailled on an affixed label that ships after the card issued is not good enough.
in reply to Kevin LaRose He/Him

@Thumper1964 @DavidGoldfield I have a Titanium too. Discover is my oldest card got it while at University so it's been with me for ages. It'd be sad to get rid of it. I love that card and think highly of that brand because of it. I wish every #Blind person could see a sample of this card. I harber a wish that one of the major orgs would make a resolution praising companies that offer a #Braille card such as they do and urging others to do so as well.
in reply to Robin Frost

@Thumper1964 I have a Wells Fargo card with Braille on it. The Braille dots are smaller than the norm and the card was a slight challenge to read, at first.

1/N Starting to write an outline of article about how open source maintainers (especially of data science and scientific computing libraries) can reduce carbon emissions, and realized I might get to talk about my favorite ACM Computing Survey paper, "Systems Approaches to Tackling Configuration Errors: A Survey" (tianyin.github.io/pub/csur.pdf) and related research by Tianyin Xu and collaborators.

This is just one point out of many, but it's maybe the most surprising—

I have other 5 songs in the can, and one of those is a killer one, I truly think it might be a very solid single.
Therefore, I'll record all other tracks in order to get better at mixing and mastering, hoping to improve the output quality before releasing that banger!

Had to explain to another user why asking a volunteer project to fix an issue is inappropriate.

And I get that's it's a really subtle point here between saying "I also have this problem" (fine) and "Please fix this issue" (not ok)

i.e. You can only ask people you have a relationship with to do work for you. You can NOT ask strangers to labour for you for free, even if you think it's important, or appropriate.

Reminded of how Canada 🇨🇦 was called a “failed state” on social media by people in the USA 🇺🇸 for - checking notes - an increase in the capital gains tax for the wealthy

and how they gaslit everyone about how much increase that was....

(they are still taxed lower than employment income. So basically lazy income is rewarded)
