It's Louis Braille and #WorldBrailleDay and normally I'm not a big follower of whatever awareness/celebration days/months but... In this case... For those sitting in the back... Braille is still relevant, it is still valuable, i, a Deafblind person rely on Braille, Tactile ASL and my service dogs to live my life. People are always saying things like we don't need braille any more because we have (insert technology thing) and thats not true. Unless, of course, you are willing to use that same technology thing in lieu of your print. No, don't like that? Neither do I. Braille is literacy, braille is freedom, braille is knowledge and knowledge is power. I am thankful for the life and courage of Louis braille and i honor him as one of my disabled ancestors.
