It occurs to me, and not for the first time, that gift retailers are amongst the worst offenders for gendering.

The number of sites with "Gifts for him" and "Gifts for her", , is enough to make my teeth itch, and then I come across things like this and I want to scream:

"Higgs Boson coasters - gifts for him - Fathers' Day Gift - God Particle - Science gift - Particle Physics - Physics gift - boxed gift set"

Is your objection that the "gifts for him" section includes items dealing with physics or is it that they are singling out specific genders?

The latter. The idea that a physics gift is for men, or (for another common example) that self-care/spa products are for women, is just excruciating - never mind that the classifications/filters ignore people who are NB entirely.
