I took a day of cleaning. It's worth reminding oneself that cleaning is both productive and very cathartic.

While doing so, I found part of my collection of cat culture, still packed from the last move.

So, #Caturday, from the top.

The coffee mug 🙂, this is a favourite for hot chocolate, chai tea and others.

Around the top brim of the mug is read hearts and black dots.

The bottom of a coffee mug. The text reads:

An excruciating painting of two cats together, each holding one side of a heart shaped box. Or something.

Honestly, this thing is horrific and obviously hand drawn on the mug and not a transfer.

Anyways, at their feet is a smiling fish wrapped in a bow, while behind them appears to be a fence. The cat on the left is an orange striped cat, and on the right a calico.

Or cow disguised as a calico, it's pretty rough. Also the one on the right has it's legs bent backwards in the way cat legs don't work.

The appears to be the same orange striped cat, with another suitor that has brought flowers. Also a smiling dead fish, blue in a yellow bow.

The cat on the write is a classic Sylvester, with a white tummy and black tail. Behind them is a red painted fence.

Or maybe it's just a really poorly drawn bench. That's probably what the other one is. I love this mug, its so ugly.

A copper-pressed relief of two cats with playing with a ball of yarn.

Another favourite, this was chosen specifically for it's offensive "omg why" factor.

There's not much to say. It's two long-hair kittens, playing with a ball of yarn, looking up at a dragonfly or something similar.

The main feature is just how inexplicable it is someone made this thing. Then purchased it. Or gave it away instead of just burning it.

One of my better thrift-store finds.

A gold painted, wooden framed photo of a long hair cat.

This one is okay, it's not a bad picture, but it is very 70's or 80's. It would really do best sitting on that cheapo veneer everyone loves to hate.

The cat is a lighter colored, long-hair tabby, sitting beside something awful. It's like a thanksgiving cornucopia, except it's a wicker wheelbarrow or something.

It has a bunch of stuff in that makes me think it was overlaid on top of the cat photo. No free-spirited cat could have let this thing alone.

A wooden framed painting of two cats in a bathroom.

This is actually a pretty nice painting, and I used to keep it in the bathroom.

On the left is a long hair beige cat, with a bell around it's neck. The cat beside it has a huge grin and smiley eyes, and they rubbing heads.

In the background is a shower curtain on the left, and a sink and tub absolutely covered in toilet paper.

I believe this is the most realistic piece of cat art I may have, even though the painting itself is a bit cartoonish.

A yellow pin with a cat on it.

This is pin, the common pressed kind, about 2 inches in diameter.

The background is yellow, and the cat has a grey head, pink ear insides, and white snout and neck.

Around the chest area there is a few small flowers. It's a nice pin, a little goofy and funny. It would be well placed on a kids backpack.

A small vintage booklet about cat care.

A small booklet about cat care, published in 1963.

This is apparently Dell Purse Book #9024, titled "Training, Loving and Caring for Cats", by Arthur F. North Jr., D.V.M. At the time it was priced at 25c (twenty-five cents).

The cover is a photo of a long hair white cat with heterochromia. It's left eye is very blue, while it's right is a pale but prominent green.

At the top of the booklet is written "PAGE 23". This page is about litterbox training a cat, and at a glance has decent advice including a strong recommendation not to punish the kitten.

A piece of wooden hanging cat art.

This is a thing. I mean it's cat made of bunch little pieces of polished wood. There appear to be all real, different wood sources, except the tongue which has been painted.

It has a quality reminiscent of Mickey Mouse, or other older cartoons. Big pupils, with concentric whites and edges. Uh, yeah it's pretty bad. Not train wreck bad, but it does make you wonder.

This one is great. Deep down, it might be my favourite.

So, classic needle point. Except bonus points for not actually being needle point, but just printed on garbage. You can't actually see it in the photo, but the cat is raised, almost 3D.

The backing is a dark brown, on top of that a doily (knitted white spiderweb thing), and the top of the needle point's binding is a dark brown bow.

The cat itself is a beige chested, light and dark brown tabby. It's tail is rather long and bushy like a raccoon. There are two faux-needlepoint plant things bookending the cat. They look like weeds, or some kind of ruderal ditch plant.

I love it. It's going back up now that I found it again.

Last up, the PlayStation 2 game Petz Catz 2.

Oh my gawd.

Yes, I played it. The cover is just throw-up cute, with four kittens looking, wrestling hugging and all that.

They're in grassy field with a fence in the background and flowers and sunshine.

This was obviously targeted at a younger demographic, but hey, even marketing makes mistakes sometimes.

The back cover, in both French and English, since this is a Canadian edition. Also the game can be played in either language.

There's some bubble font blurbs like "New Petz" and "New Ways To Play!".

There's some screenshots where you can customize your cats, with over 40 breeds to pick from. There's some player-to-player mini games and you can build a cat village. Pretty great.
