For people who believe in democracy, billionaires should not exist *on principle*, because even if perfect equality (or even equity) is impossible, the level of inequality associated with the existence of billionaires is just unacceptable.
Reminder: if someone with $1B was spending $1/s (that's $86,400 per day!), it would take them almost 32 years to spend it all...
