I’d highly recommend reverting #3671 and reintroducing movement bindings by default in “insert”/editing mode. Top reason: Do not create a rite of passage. Even the author of the PR has reintroduced...GitHub

i am no longer interested in helix. in my mind, it's now flagged "run by asshats". not just because of this "do as we say, not as we do" change (although that would have sufficed), but frankly dead10ck's condescending response to you is what flipped the switch for me

It’s also likely they’re just being defensive as it’s their contribution I’m criticising. In any case, I do hope it doesn’t go the way of creating rites of passage and becoming an exclusive tool for the über geek. We’ll see… I think this is a good test.
And, hey, worst case scenario, there might be a place for a web dev editor for everyday devs (insert mode by default?) that’s progressively enhanced with the other modes… 🤔
