@feld it's also the excuse that Plex and Resilio (Sync) give that they haven't implemented directory watching.

I guess that's everyone's excuse as well? What do you even mean, how do you implement this on FreeBSD using the available mechanisms? Hook into dtrace? Kqueue is not equivalent for watching directories recursively
