Okay, time to properly launch this: SUPER SWING DISTRICTS! superswingdistricts.org

This is a slate of Democratic candidates calculated for maximum impact for your donation dollars.

National campaigns receive a ton of money, but can't always deploy it locally in the places that the Electoral College, gerrymandering, and … shenanigans mean it needs to be spent. But figuring out which local campaigns *can* use it is a lot of work. This site is the output of that work.

Maybe you've got a limited budget for political donations and you don't know where to spend it; a few bucks in a presidential campaign feels like a drop in an ocean. Maybe you've got a big budget but you've maxed out your direct donations to national candidates and you don't know where else to spend the rest of it, because you're skeptical of PACs. Since the slate features 18 candidates, you can donate up to your limit on each one. In both cases, this is a high-impact use of your funds.

I've finished this site later than I wanted to, so there's precious little time left in the election. Even if you can't donate, please boost this *widely*, because we are still in the window where it could make a really big difference.

There are candidates from Pennsylvania superswingdistricts.org/#super… from the southwest superswingdistricts.org/#super… and from swing states superswingdistricts.org/#super… . I've made sure to link up all the individual seats (click the "#" next to the seat ID) so you can link directly to them if one in particular speaks to your particular issues or values; don't feel like you have to boost me here, feel free to post in your own words after reading.

Update to superswingdistricts.org today: a goal tracker, showing how much we've raised. This has been promoted other places, and we don't really have any tracking, but just based on timing it does seem clear that you folks are responsible for a pretty significant chunk of the progress so far, so THANK YOU!

This number might seem surprisingly small next to the millions and billions of dollars being raised in high-profile national campaigns, but that's kind of the point here; these smaller state-level races are starved for resources and this is where conservative ghouls have been eating our lunch for years, infiltrating the machinery of local elections, state offices, etc.

80% of the way to the goal, thank you to everyone who has boosted so far.

Refreshing social media feeds and podcasts to listen to whatever fresh outrage has occurred each day has not made me feel better even once, but refreshing this site and seeing the total raised number ticking up, even just by a couple of bucks, is one of the best mental health interventions I've had this year. It's just nice to see people I know giving something directly.

<$4,000 left to the goal. It is a reach but I think we might actually make it!
in reply to Glyph

<$3000 now. So close.

The goal will bump up to a new one if we can meet this one, of course; the campaigns can use plenty more than this. But it would be great to cross this threshold.

in reply to Glyph

Holy crap we did it. We made it to $50k. New goal at $54k, since that is evenly divisible by 18. Let's blow past that too.
in reply to Glyph

An hour later and we're only a little over $300 from the new goal. Thank you to everyone donating. Really inspiring to watch.

And we made it, and then some. On to the next goal: $60k.

Writing that thread about the stakes of the election from my perspective really took a lot more out of me than I thought it was going to though, so please get to $60k while I take a break for a while.
