Another illegal Airbnb I reported has been
listed for sale.
The owner was an investor from another state. They
bought the house in 2022. I reported it in April of
this year and they just listed for sale last week.
For those of you who haven't tried it yet, reporting
illegal Airbnbs can be a productive and even fun
activity. It's like playing a game of GeoGuess. You
get to use clues from the Airbnb listing to locate the
house on Google Maps. It's a great way to pass the
time and contribute to making your community
more affordable by discouraging speculative
investors from gobbling up all the affordable
housing.
I encourage everyone to research their local
municipal codes regarding short-term rentals. You
might be surprised at how many Airbnbs are
operating illegally in your area. I'm up to 25 cases
since I started in April and so far 2 homes have been
listed for sale and 1 has been listed for rent.
