Since #PHP's #APC seems to be discontinued? Are folks using the #PECL pecl.php.net/package/APCu for #performance?

PECL :: Package :: APCu

opcache has been built in for age (but not enabled by default). APCu is only for user data caching. Do you actually need that?

built-in opcode cache replaces APC's main function of ... caching compiled opcodes for scripts. APCu is still useful for in-memory, key-value caching. Most apps probably use something like Memcache or Redis to share cached data across servers.
