I've had an enormous jar of Bulgarian peach halves that have been itching to be a pie for a couple of years. I should make that happen this weekend.

Oooh, those are awesome! So many good things to make, you can also eat them like that, people also peal them because my mom for example has allergies, but if by bulgarian peaches you mean the one with the weird peal that's a bit mossy like on the top then haha those are best thing.

@tardis they're peeled already, so not sure what they looked like fresh. By Bulgarian I mean that the jars are packed and labelled there. Prob a similar peach variety as we have here.

Eating the peaches in packing syrup reminds me of the canned ones we'd have as kids before getting fresh fruit out of season was common. A flavour of their own but still yummy!
