1990: Welcome to #VIRTUALREALITY | #TomorrowsWorld | #RetroTech youtu.be/8A3lXFsHe_A

Didn’t realize Virtuality was a UK company. Pretty good article, even though the screens were super laggy. They were in real life too.

@yorkie Not surprised especially given when this happened. I am surprised that such tech existed back then, however.

I think it’s why a lot of old gamers play VR .. we’re finally getting what was promised to us 30 years ago.

@yorkie I'm waiting for VR that can make someone who's completely blind also feel totally immersed. Until then, VR just won't cut it for me.

VR helps some visually impaired folk see things they haven’t been able to see in a long time. VR gives me spatial awareness that I can’t get in screen games. Mainly thru visuals though. I tried learning piano with VR .. hasn’t worked out yet!

@yorkie@mas.toYep, could certainly be interesting for those with *some* sight, but I've never had any. So until sound is as comparable as the visual aspect, it will always seem fake, unfortunately. I don't think we're far off, though. Certainly within our lifetime. Apple Music's spatial audio head-tracked stuff makes the sound stage move correctly around, so no reason why VR can't do the same. I live in hope...
