Anyone using the #Discord app for #Mac having a problem where the Discord updater loads and then just crashes over and over again, thus causing Discord itself not to load?

Haven’t had any issues recently but I have seen the Discord app self destruct itself, more so on Windows but I wouldn’t put it past the Mac version. I’d try to just delete the app and reinstall and if that doesn’t work in addition to just reinstalling delete Discord’s folder in ~/library/Application Support which is Mac’s equivalent of the Windows app data directory

@pitermach Now I gotta figure out how to uninstall apps, it is not as easy as just running an uninstaller file like it is on Windows.

At its most basic it’s often literarly just a case of deleting the app out of the applications folder, and if you want your settings and saved data deleted as well also looking in the Application Support folder I mentioned. Some larger apps that install more background services, things like Audio Hijack, will have an uninstall command somewhere in the app itself or included in the download. There are also apps that will help you find these other accompanying files, the one I use is CleanMyMac. It does way more than this so it might be overkill, but at the same time some of the other features it has like letting you see what’s taking up space on the disk, deleting temporary files and caches and more so it might be worth looking at.

@pitermach I will definitely be taking a look at cleanly Mac, but for now, I was able to remove the Discord application and reinstall it, then I made an alias for my Desktop so I don’t have to move the actual application out of the applications folder.
