As there is no Element account on mastodon, let me ask you directly something :
Do you plan to unify the chat list for both direct and group chats on Element mobile app ?

This is a very important feature I think to allow the average user not to be confused compared to traditional messengers that have only one column of chat on the home screen.

It would be a nice feature !

Is there any further info in English about this? Is it OSS? I suppose it can be self-hosted if it's decentralized but how?
