Thanks so much to @linuxflower and the Team Thunderbird MTG players who playtested this card, and @kantel who let us use a SD illustration he generated for one of his regular Thunderbird updates!
@linuxflower @kantel Pretty disappointing to see you use AI-generated "illustrations" tbh :/ Especially on something that's supposed to resemble a MTG card, where actual artists have been struggling against their art being sampled and replaced by AI
Also, I find “illustration” suggests a person being creative and illustrating something. Not some Schmuck sitting behind their keyboard trying to get a prompt right. For a company or institution ostensibly fighting for the rights of the little guy, it seems out of tune to use a technology that makes billions for unethical corporations whose product takes a giant dump on creatives and was developed by exploitation and theft of their work.
I (Monica here) asked our community member to use this image from one of his many helpful Thunderbird updates in German. I provided the info about the image to provide honest attribution. I've taken him off the replies. He isn't a schmuck, and he shouldn't bear the brunt of criticism for saying yes to my request.
There's a valid discussion to be had about prioritizing humans over AI tools, but the onus is on me for using the image - not our community member for saying yes.
@Morgunin The community member deserves criticism too for using AI imagery for every post they make and contributing to the culture of devaluing creative work, but my criticism was largely aimed at Thunderbird for using it, to be clear.

I know right.
