This past week I've been part of a Citizens Assembly in which randomly selected members of the public have come together to discuss the problems we're facing with food in the UK - from production to the very low quality of the product that ends up in our plates, and how far too many children end up with nothing on their plates.

Next week I'll be talking about our discussions with a member of the government.

I've always thought that citizens assemblies are good ideas, but now that I've been part of one I'm all in.

I was in a room with people I would never normally associate with, and we all brought different points of view. I care deeply about fairness, but others cared more about the environment, healthcare, education.

Experts came in to address us, giving us facts.

CAs might not be the whole solution to every problem, but they should be part of it
