So, it's late March. Just over a week until #GooglePodcasts gets sunset! πŸŒ‡

If you are using Google Podcasts and haven't looked into alternatives yet: now is the time. If you want to give AntennaPod a try, here's a guide written by fellow fediverser @alecm:

I'm a Google podcasts user, installed AntennaPod when I first read here about Google sunsetting their app but I never got any message from Google that it stops. No mail, not in the app, not on podcasts . google . com... Strange...

Anyway, I'm moving to AntennaPod. πŸ™‚

I can personally recommend Podcast Addict (podcastaddict.com/getting started) - especially if you like your apps to have *lots* of customisation options πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

I've been using AntennaPod for maybe 10 years. It does what it says on the tin and then gets out of your way. No ads :-)
If you are looking for a new podcatcher, I highly recommend it.

Yes, it is inconvenient to move. And yes, you will lose your playback history. But, as per @alecm's blog post:

> the pain here is all entirely and utterly due to Google. There ought to be an OPML Export button on the website. There ought to be an OPML export feature in the app

And, if we may add, there ought to be a way to export your full playback history.

I also enjoy Antenna pod. The buttons do as they say and I feel, that I have control over how I use the app.

#GooglePodcasts had been marketed so terribly, I only learned about it about six weeks before the service was dismissed. πŸ˜‰

However, thanks for the great work on @AntennaPod ! The app has really enhanced my mobile audio consumption. πŸ‘

Google is so flaky. There's 294 projects listed over on the Google graveyard (killedbygoogle.com/). It makes me worry that they'll someday kill Gmail, or google voice, or Google Keep.

This summer Google plans to block products like uBlock Origin. So the YT experience is probably going to go downhill.

AntennaPod is great. Does *almost* everything you'd want (except no playlists, oh well.)

in Antennapod, why did the refresh button disappear into a menu on the queue view? This is infuriating. With a long queue it is impractical to use pull to refresh. And using the menu is prone to user error ("cleared queue, oh you wanted refresh?").

Hi @gnarly_parker,

It's done in order to make space for other buttons, as also explained just now on our forum: forum.antennapod.org/t/changed…

We hope you'll be able to adapt to the situation!
