Not an American but I proudly used my #Fairphone 3 (2019) until the Fairphone 6 released.

I'm hoping to hold onto it until at least the Fairphone 9 :)

I think it also makes me a better dev to not dev only on the newest and latest and fastest devices but actually make sure the app runs acceptably on slightly older devices too :)

On that note, IzzyOnDroid and F-Droid have a lot of apps that work great on older devices, just a sideload away :) izzyondroid.org/

@SylvieLorxu I've kept my old FP2 (2015) running until this year (2025), I'm a real bad guy: run my devices until they (physically) fall apart or become unusable (FP2 became really slow with today's apps).

Switched to another modular device this year, the SHIFTphone8. @shiftphones shares our goal of sustainability, so I'm counting on using this one as long again πŸ€—

Oh, btw: Meet SHIFT and us at our shared stand at FOSDEM 2026 :awesome:

@junior I like it. It is a huge upgrade over the 3. I'm sure other phones at the same price point are faster but it is fast enough to be comfortable to me and I really like the switch on the side to quickly switch between DND and regular.

The only issues right now is no official LineageOS support yet and every now and then it seems to memory leak to the point everything gets sluggish until I reboot but that's a minor annoyance to me.
