Am I seeing this correctly that the reason is that the libera people feel that the bridge is too buggy?

@lehrenfried @danialbehzadi yes. they complained about some long-lived problems (e.g. IRC reconnections during bridge upgrades); we went on a mission to fix them; the fixes ended up creating new problems (refactoring to keep persistent IRC connections has introduced some nightmare failure modes where messages can go missing), and they ran out of patience.
