We have several gentiles on the site.

Let me say what I tell people, and this has nothing to do with you, as I don't know what you said that was deleted, but because get asked this a lot.

When a non-Jew wants to join Babka, so often this seems to be because they think we're a place that is safe for other forms of bigotry, such as Islamophobia, and that's just not the case. We're against bigotry and if something is Islamophobic, we encourage folks to report it and we'll take administrative action.

This has happened more than once, and for people who want to join us because they are "Pro-Israel" (whatever the heck that means), it doesn't end well.

It's also challenging for gentiles who join because they can come in and feel like there are conversations that find confusing, or they feel need their perspective, not realizing that Jews coming together to be around other Jews aren't looking for the Christian perspective on topics.

@EdenLinnea To put it short, I'm not on the left, and it seems to be extremely unpopular on Mastodon. I don't support "Free Palestine" movement which also makes lots of people angry. I don't support anticapitalism because I don't know what's better than capitalism, acknowledging the fact it's not an ideal system, but I'm definitely against communists, anarchists and other destructive movements. And on and on it goes 😊
