My first digital player, though not specifically designed for music, was the Victor Vibe, which I bought when RFB&D, now Learning Ally, sold it at quite a nice discount. While it was designed for their Daisy books which were on CD at that time, it could also play standard CDs, as well as MP3 CDs, and I used it to play MP3 audio as much as I used it as a book player. I still have it and it's in great condition.
