I was out recording a few things and one of my cats ran up to me and wanted to talk. Say hi to Lucy. In binaural audio! Might want to wear headphones for the best effect.

And I am so here for the running cat just before she meows, and just... goshness she is the darndest thing. I cannot with the sweetness.
in reply to Talon

awhw cute kitty. How old is he or she? it sounds very yung
in reply to Aamir

@aamir51 Got them in 2018 when they were just born. I have the best kitties
in reply to Talon

ah so not that yung. Yeah you can't really tell how old the cat is baste on their meow noises in most cases it doesn't really seem to change all that much.
in reply to Talon

Unfortunatly I lost my kitty a few days ago. I hope she is in peace where ever she might be. I miss her
in reply to Aamir

@aamir51 oh no! I'm so sorry. Losing any of mine would break me I'm sure
in reply to Talon

thankfully I do have some of her recordings as nice memorys which keep me company
in reply to Matthew J

@bermudianbrit Sennheiser Ambeo with my phone. Am looking for some binaural mics though for non phone use.
in reply to Talon

ah nice. I have a set of those. Not done too much with them yet.
in reply to Talon

what'd you use for this, it sounds great, and haaai, Lucy, she meows like our cat.
in reply to Xantastic

@cordova5029 Sennheiser Ambeo. I have a whole stash since they got beyond cheap. But if iPhones switch to usb c I'll have to reconsider what to do. They might work with the dongle but at that point I might as well use a dedicated recorder.
in reply to Talon

same pitch and intonation and everything. She sounds like, she's maybe 6 or 7,
in reply to Talon

yeah, our cat's 10 this year, and still has the same voice. She's def not a kitten, your cat.
in reply to Xantastic

@cordova5029 Nope not anymore. I have a kitten recording somewhere though it's beyond adorable
in reply to Talon

@Estrella damn, you can still tell it's her though. Just younger. IT's interesting, cats seem to have a set of meows, well they can make hundreds of vocal noises, I read somewhere, but cats seem to have a similar set of meows, regardless of ages.
in reply to Talon

Do you have a link to this? Sounds like it would be adorable!
in reply to Talon

Right, but for some reason I can't seem to get at it. There's an image description but, hmm. Let me try something

@bryn she is sooooo cute!
in reply to Talon

What were you recording with? Ye, that was pretty cool.
The least you could have done is said something back :)
in reply to Kevin R Jones

@kevinrj oh I talk to her a lot. I just happened to be recording and wanted her to be the star of the show. But you bet I usually meow right back. And then we go back and forth for minutes.
in reply to Talon

What an adorable sounding kitty. I'm glad you recorded that. Is she little? I wonder if I've still got recordings of my Wendell. (Former guide dog). I'm sure they've got to be somewhere. It's just the matter of finding them.
in reply to Talon

Dawwwwwwws. That cat is adorable. I want to pet it and snuggle it and have a cat cuddle session with it. :D
in reply to Talon

Holy shit, that meow! Legit made me wimper that I couldn't give the poor kitty pets, or food, or assistance with world domination, or anything she needed.
Cats really have the art of manipulating humans down, don't they? They are weaponised cuteness, and there is nothing we can/want to do.
in reply to Mayana

@Mayana she melts my heart every. single. time. It never gets old.
in reply to Talon

No, I can't imagine how it could. Humans can get used to everything -- except mews.
in reply to Mayana

@Mayana I seem to recall reading somewhere that this is literally true - wild or feral adult cats don't meow nearly as much and definitely not in the same way as domestic(ating) cats, and they pitch their meows to more or less coincide with the cries of a human baby.
in reply to pettter

@pettter @Mayana oh she absolutely only meows to talk to us. Even if sometimes she just meows without a goal. Runs up to me, we meow back and forth a bunch, then she runs off. She probably doesn't know how much brighter she makes my days.
in reply to pettter

@pettter Exactly! Combine that with them rubbing themselves against you being as much, or perhaps more about making that you're *their* human. Granted, cats do also rub against each other, to create a sense of community in scent and such, but still.
Such lovable manipulative bastards they are!
in reply to Mayana

@Mayana @pettter I don't even mind. They can keep doing it. I happily submit.
in reply to Talon

@pettter Hell, I'd even happily submit to the robot overlords, if only they were like cats. There's no need for the big killer robot kind; make a furry body, go up to me and give me a headbunt, and I'll obey.
in reply to Talon

Hi, Lucy! Lol! Yes, I'm like 14,000+ posts behind and glad I saw this. So cute!
