I've already seen complaints about #
Microsoft introducing expensive subscription model for those who want to continue using #
Windows10.
You can call me names, but as a software engineer I totally support this decision.
When you have to maintain two or more versions of the same product, you have two negative outcomes: first, you are distracted of implementing features and fixing bugs in the main, i.e., latest version, and second, your mood and emotional state is constantly lowered because you either have to do the same work twice (for both versions), or you simply don't have enough energy and motivation to maintain old stuff that doesn't support more modern technologies. It's very hard to explain to users (I once had an argument with a person telling Google that, I quote, "Chrome is a bad browser" because it didn't support JAWS 15 in the times of something like JAWS 2019). That said, a tough decision they took seems to me a brave movement. Basically, they are saying: either use a modern version of the system, or, if you don't want, pay us so we can motivate those software engineers who maintain that old thing at least with money.
