#Fedra is now on GitHub releases! Beta 2 gives you some new hotkeys for switching timelines and interacting with threads, makes the binary smaller, fixes deleting posts, and a couple other small tweaks. github.com/trypsynth/fedra/rel…
It is great to see so many examples of blind people meeting our own software needs lately. Thanks for the work you're putting in. Do you have any estimate for when you will create a Windows installer? I know several people who would love to play, but even extracting a zip file into a folder and running the executable from there is beyond their comfort zone. Same question for Fast SM, who I would mention but auto-complete appears broken in that client at the moment...
@JonathanMosen Thanks for the feedback on the installer, I can get one done pretty soon! My thought, as a technical user, was it's one binary, they can just grab it and put it somewhere, but I understand that lots of users are used to just running a setup program and then the software works, so I'll definitely get to it. Thanks for the feedback! :)
@JonathanMosen Also, as excited as I am about how far you can go with just one executable in this new tech stack, you may eventually hit some constraint that forces you to ship other files as well.
@Bri @FastSM It's working now for me too mate. I can't account for why it wasn't before. Perhaps it hadn't had its vitamins. So, any thoughts on a nice user-friendly installer for this thang?
@JonathanMosen @FastSM That's awesome. If you don't mind, can I take a look at how you did that? I won't if you don't want me to of course but the users want an installer, and I currently have no idea what's the best way to roll one through GH actions
@JonathanMosen @FastSM I just realized, the way you do it works, but because of the nature of Python, I don't know that I would be able to do it with a non-dynamic installer file like that. Hmm
@Bri @JonathanMosen @FastSM here is the error, Failed to execute script 'FastSM' due to unhandled exception: [Errno 13] Permission denied: 'C:\\Program Files\\FastSM\\errors.log'
@Bri @J3317 @JonathanMosen @FastSM Well also, to be fair to installers, having your error logging lliterally be "yeah so let's just pipe stderr to a file handle that I open once without any error checking and then never close" is more than a little bit horrifying.
@J3317 @JonathanMosen @FastSM A lot of that shit is just leftovers from Quinter. It's worked out okay ish so far, but yeah there are still a few questionable things it does yet.
