Had to visit mainstream social media for something on a friends computer because I was helping them with their FB account and, after witnessing the absolute garbage UX of mainstream social media, I can never take anybody seriously that says the Fediverse is complicated. For example, on her FB notification page, it was just a giant wall of, You might also like, you might be interested in, since you visited, since you commented on, etc. It took me endless scrolling to actually find a real notification and not a suggestion, but this is what an algorithm encourages.
