It’s kind of hard to believe that it’s been five years. I remember deciding to have a nap instead of watching the vote certification. Then I was awakened by a friend calling, and the first words out of their mouth was “they’re storming the Capitol.” That day is stamped into my memory as indelibly as 9/11. Every year we are told, ad nauseam, to #NeverForget 9/11. Conversely, we are being told, in many sometimes imperceptible ways, to forget January 6. And, dammit, it’s working. Not for me, though.
