The Omar Metioui Ensemble has recorded a lot of #Maghribi #Sufi music from the medieval era, including this album of #Dhikr and Sama.

I'm not a great fan of #Sufi music, especially the type that involves grunting or snorting. I don't get the purpose. But there's something about this style and this recording that puts me into another place mentally, which is the whole purpose.

On this recording, you can really hear the similarities between this and #Catholic #Gregorian #Chant of the same time period. And... (almost) no grunting.
