Minimus is following vestigia (footprints) in the lutum (mud) next to the stagnum (pond). Is it a phasianus (pheasant) or a gallinula (moorhen)...or is it something more mysterious?

liquefacio: I melt
Minimus has a patina (pan) full of melted cera (wax) which he's pouring out from a trulla (dipper) to make a tabula cerata (wax tablet). Although Minimus prefers writing with atramentum (ink) on a proper Vindolanda leaf tablet, he'll use a wax tablet when he's out and about because it's less messy!
