I’m not going to use bloody bugzilla, so if anyone from Mozilla sees this, your enterprise flow for adding certificate authorities (CAs) to Firefox on Linux fails on Fedora Silverblue.

Since Fedora Silverblue is seen as the possible future of Fedora/Red Hat, you folks might want to talk to the Fedora folks about it and come up with a solution.

Anyone know of a tool like Multipass (https://github.com/canonical/multipass) but for Fedora (and, ideally, Fedora CoreOS). So you can, for example, easily play with instance configuration, etc., locally?

I know I can use libvirt (and I did set it up after quite a struggle) but it’s a huge hassle in comparison.

If you’re seeing apps in the Updates tab of GNOME Software in Fedora Silverblue and a Download button that does nothing; it’s a known issue and a fix has been submitted for it.

Also, excellent first-run GNOME Software experience on Fedora Silverblue 37. Had about 28 updates listed, everything installed beautifully (with lovely row slide/disappear animations for installed apps).

(There were first-run issues with GNOME Software on Fedora Silverblue 36.)

I have to say, that one little snag aside, that was the easiest/fastest operating system update I’ve ever performed on any operating system ever.

…aaand, back from the reboot and running on Fedora Silverblue 37 with GNOME 43.

Nice! :)

Specifically, to fix this issue:

1. Run:

rpm-ostree update --uninstall rpmfusion-free-release --uninstall rpmfusion-nonfree-release --install rpmfusion-free-release --install rpmfusion-nonfree-release

2. Re-run the rebase:

rpm-ostree rebase fedora:fedora/37/x86_64/silverblue

3. Reboot:

systemctl reboot

#fedoraSilverblue

So that’s the theory, anyway.

In practice:

error: Could not depsolve transaction; 2 problems detected:
Problem 1: conflicting requests
- nothing provides system-release(36) needed by rpmfusion-free-release-36-1.noarch
Problem 2: conflicting requests

🤷‍♂️

So the cool thing about Fedora Silverblue? I’m rebasing to the latest Fedora 37 beta now (mostly to play with GNOME 43). If anything goes wrong, I enter one command in terminal and I’m back to the exact latest version of Fedora 36 I was using before :)

Hmm, seems it’s not seeing the WiFi adapter (yes, I checked the kill “switch” – meta + F11 – it’s correct, and yes I rebooted just to make sure) :)

Gonna try postmarketOS next, me thinks :)

Ah, interesting, so maybe the error message is wrong?

(Don’t you just love those?)

Aha, and now an error message:

“The following error occured while installing the boot loader. The system will not be bootable…:

Failed to set new efi boot target. This is most likely a kernel or a firmware bug.”

Fun times.

Someone get the folks at Fedora a PinebookPro.

Might have spoken too soon. Either it’s taking forever (seems stuck on “writing objects”) or it’s stuck.

Yay! Fedora Silverblue is being installed on my PinebookPro as we speak :)
