Constantly begging for donations or ratings is not something you will see #Conversations_im do. An instant messaging app should benefit its users not its developers.

Signal infrastructure reportedly takes 50e6 USD to run a year, so begging for donations is probably necessary.

They donate 50 M$/a to #JeffBezos #AWS and pay employees 260 k$/a, no wonder they need more income.

Thank you for this! And thank you for creating a XMPP app for Android that's easy enough to use that I'm able to recommend it to people for chatting on my own private XMPP server.

That is very noble of you. But I certainly wouldn't fault you if you made a donation link at least easier to find. Free software only exists because its developers are in the privileged position of being able to afford the time for maintaining it. If a FOSS developer wants financial help, I think it's totally okay for them to ask for it. I think it's okay for FOSS developers to also have some "benefit". Thank you for conversations and all the work around it you do! ❤️

I agree with not soliciting reviews, being able to pay people to work on the project would make a lot of stuff easier and would lead to faster development.

For example, it's impossible to expect someone to do a code review in a short amount of time when they're not being paid for that work.

I know you're aware of all of this, but wanted to state it explicitly as this example and many others often get overlooked.
