Cartero is the lightweight HTTP client that you can use to test your APIs. Avoid bloat, respect your privacy, reject cloud; that's the motto.

Powered by libadwaita, GTK and gtk-rs. If you run GNOME, you will love it.

This is our fediverse account. Follow for announcements, tips and some occasional shitpost.

With the current prices of RAM memory, it is important to squeeze like an orange every byte available in the system in order to save money.
A bar chart titled "How much RAM does your HTTP client eat?". The values are sorted by highest to lowest and contain:

Insomnia, 310 MB
Postman, 215 MB
Bruno, 137 MB
Yaak, 69 MB (nice)
Cartero, 56 MB

In very small footprint, says "Measurements taken after starting the program, skipping the onboard (if applicable) and making two requests to httpbin.org in two separate tabs. Measurements may not be scientific. This is not legal advice, this is just entertainment. This is a shitpost, for god's sake."

Cartero looks solid!

But for a fair comparison, let's put #curl on the chart.

#curl

Fair.

(Plus, TIL that time and gnu-time can also collect the max memory usage of a process, among other statistics.)

A bar chart. The title says "You really need all those windows? Think twice.". There are six bars in the chart:

- Insomnia: 310 MB
- Postman: 215 MB
- Bruno: 137 MB
- Yaak: 69 MB (nice)
- Cartero: 56 MB
- curl: 18 MB

There is a footprint bigger than the last one that says "Still not using a terminal? What is even a frame buffer or fractional scaling? We have been fooled."
