When the creator of #nginx calls for the #freenginx fork, the question is not whether he's right or wrong, but rather: how does the rest of the free software community facilitates following the fork rather than the brand? It's a matter of community agency vs. corporate agency.

In the last five years there have been many occurrences of corporate intrusion in #freesoftware community Commons (not to say "Business", because it is not) that were overlooked as 'normal'. They are not.
