Them: we're excited to offer the #curl project a grant of $2,000 in USDC.

(USDC? Quick Google. What's that?)

Me:Sorry, I'm not interested in any crypto currencies. If you can't pay real money then I'm not interested.

why? because crypto is generally insane. If they want to fund us, we gladly accept funding. Why insist on doing it via weird funny business? I think it rather smells of trickery and I will not go near it.

Maybe they’ve got a little extra in the heroin and ransomware budget this month?

they want you to use it and talk about it?

Took a quick look. In theory you can exchange it without fees at coinbase, but it essentially is tokens that claims to be dollars so the people sending it would have to collect tax info from you.

It is funny. How are they suppose to make money with no fees? Seems they skim part of the interest the dollars from the treasuries they hold?

I respect that. Crypto is not a currency. It’s imaginary trading cards with a fickle community of collectors willing to pay stupid amounts of money on, while bad actors use it for scams, cyber attacks, and human trafficking. We should want nothing to do with that crap (or any other unregulated, anonymous things that people pretend are legitimate financial instruments).
