German government publishes law to guarantee 'right to encryption'

The Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport Affairs (BMDV) has drawn up a draft bill that will make end-to-end encryption mandatory for messengers and cloud services in the future.

This is a really important step to establish privacy protection. The value of privacy seems highly underestimated, at least when I am looking at some efforts to break up encryption. Thank you guys from tuta for providing a secure email solution!

Sehr kuriose, auch Deutschland hat sich stark für die Chatkontrolle eingesetzt.
Und viel unternommen um die Privatsphäre der Bürger zu unterminieren.

@c_th1 Bisher ist Chatkontrolle nur freiwillig und schließt verschlüsselte Dienste nicht ein. Wir müssen dran bleiben, damit das so bleibt (mindestens)!

@ErikJonker definitely a great step for privacy, but is it implementable? e.g. if iOS deletes cookies/cache/storage every 3 days (it does), then where do you store the encryption keys? if you store them on the server, then i’m not sure why e2e encryption is advantageous
