How do y'all determine if a cli option makes sense? How do y'all evaluate the necessity of new options?

@worr it's a process with lots of discussions. No one wants new options, but we are also careful not to overload existing or add new default behaviors that might be troublesome. And we add features regularly to be able to do more transfer "things".
