At the same time the largest conservative outlets were screaming about censorship, #Meta was internally clocking them as the biggest producers of hate speech on Facebook. Simultaneously, one employee notes: "We make special exceptions to our written policies for them."

RE: bsky.app/profile/did:plc:o4pdp…

We have a very good idea which actors in the US drive the largest volumes of this kind of content. In the last 14 days, the 10 pages responsible for the largest concentrated volume of likely violating Hate Speech comments have been:
Breitbart
Fox News
The Daily Caller
USA Patriots for Donald Trump
Donald Trump For President
Donald J. Trump
Ben Shapiro
Conservative Tribune by WJ
US Chronicle
The Western Journal
can't overemphasize that this is a completely average, run-of-the-mill post for Breitbart or any other of the top Hate Bait producers. They all create dozens or hundreds of posts like this day, each eliciting endless volumes of hateful vile comments and we reward them fantastically for it. The comments don't count against them for anything, and the posts get engagement, so, we promote them for free to millions and millions of people and we put their content at the top of millions of news feeds. On top of this, we make special exceptions to our written policies for them, and we even explicitly endorse them by including them as trusted partners in our core products.
With so many internal forces propping up the production of hateful and violent content, the task of stopping hate and violence on Facebook starts to feel even more sisyphean than it already is.
It also makes it embarrassing to work here. I work hard, my teammates work hard, everyone in Content Integrity and beyond works hard-and yet, when the company has a very apparent interest in propping up actors who are fanning the flames of the very fire that we are trying to put out, it makes it hard to be visibly proud of where I work. How is an outsider supposed to believe that we care whatsoever about getting rid of hate speech when it is clear to anyone that we are propping it up?
