This is a short tutorial video on how to receive events/tasks almost instantly from your @nextcloud on your Android device using DAVx⁵ and our new Push functionality.

1. You'll need to activate this Nextcloud app:

apps.nextcloud.com/apps/dav_pu…

2. Install a @unifiedpush distributor on your Android, then select it in the DAVx5 settings.

3. Deactivate and reactivate a calendar resource in DAVx5 in the details view of a resource and wait 5 seconds. "Subscribed" should appear, and you're ready.

UnifiedPush reshared this.

Umm... "This extension is in a very early stage of development. It is for demonstration and testing purposes only. Don't use it on production systems!"
That means it's better to wait?

@rc It can't break anything, so you can try. and you can deactivate it, too, again. it's not near final, it may stop working without any warning or error, it may get slower over time, and such things. testing it and goving feedback always helps with the development :)

Ok, I'll try it and will give feedback if it makes problems. Thank you.

EDIT: Just read the installation instructions. Too much effort for my usage model.

I tried this but using #NextPush instead of NTFY.

Tapping on #UnifiedPush in the #Dav5X settings instantly picked up UnifiedPush and subscribed, showing my account in brackets. The NextPush Android app showed Davx5 as subscribed.

It seems I had to turn the collection off and on a couple of times before it showed as subscribed, and it still takes about 30 seconds to update. Could that just be #GrapheneOS's default calendar app that I'm using?

@Blort Thanks for that tutorial, also tried this with NextPush - will try this instead of ntfy now for a while, the last one is eating my batter...

@finn @Blort Conversations also provides a UP provider that works well, if you maybe have that app installed

Outstanding work, this is a very welcome change.

Followed the tutorial and now see Push Support as Subscribed for CalDAV entries. Should the Push Support info also show for CardDAV? So far not seeing that info in CardDAV.
