Today I set up a laptop with #Windows 11 for my sister-in-law. The Windows UI is definitely more polished in 11 than it was in 10, but boy, it is cluttered and distracting: "Here is the weather forecast and how about stock prices? News? You surely want to read the news! And BTW here is this cool app from our store." 🤯

should've installed the LTSC version, it comes with none of the bloatware.

I can share a link to a certain legit website with a good guide (used it personally).

@mks_h the laptop came with pre-installed Windows. I just helped her install some apps (mostly open source), set them up and migrate data. The last thing I want to get into is maintaining Windows. 🙂

you can turn most of it off, but it's a bit of work. arstechnica.com/gadgets/2025/0…

Dozens of things you can do to clean up a fresh install of Windows 11 24H2 and Edge

If you start using Windows 11 this year, you’ll want to know how to clean it up.
