(I added TV shows like Arcane bc I don’t want spoilers; will remove when I’m caught up)
For context, Akko-FE lets us expand muted posts to see them so I’m more liberal with what I mute. Certain mutes I usually expand, like “welcome new user ~” but don’t want to see when I use a client like Enafore where I doomscroll more aggressively.
i scroll past posts i don't like. also, i'd just like to take the time to point out i follow >1,000 people on fedi and my favorite timeline is "social" which is a combination of local+home
if i enable "reduce animations" then my feed is actually impossible to follow since posts will pop into existence at once. if i am at the top of the list interacting with posts and a refresh happens i can easily scroll by 20+ posts at once. the only good part about the ui animations is that they slow down this filling in so i see each post slowly fade in.
yeah i forgot to mention i view my timelines with "autorefresh" so it's literally a waterfall of everything. i just pick posts at random that seem interesting to me to interact with. this is also why i don't respond to everything because a lot of shit gets lost
@cody @puppygirlhornypost2 @lily Over 4-5 years on this account I’ve accumulated over 700, and many of them are alts. An account-holder I follow has maybe 1.3 accounts on average. In January I resolved to keep it to no higher than another 75 per year, so now when I follow someone I try to unfollow someone else whom I’m not as interested in seeing anymore.
I follow someone if I want to see them in my home timeline. I add them to a list if I want to see them more for a particular reason.
I've only been here for a year, but I really just don't find that many people to follow lmao I mean I'm following almost 200, and if I kept at this rate I'd have 800 in 4 years, but honestly I doubt I'm going to follow the same amount of people I've followed this year the following ones... heck the first like 100 I probably followed in the first 3 months... I slowed down significantly already...
@cody @puppygirlhornypost2 @lily My barrier to “worth following” is extremely low. Good takes on security or accessibility or search engines, certain projects who post things not covered by RSS feeds, friends, friends of friends, people who reblog good posts, etc. My barrier to adding people to certain lists is higher, especially one that’s just for friends and favorites.

Edit: 32 not 23
