it's not surprising the three most common forms of Fedi bigotry are (in no particular order) anti-blackness, antisemitism and misogyny.
it's also not surprising all three of them often manifest here in their most classic form in the 21st century: Jews are an external evil that threatens society; black people are an internal evil that threatens me personally; women are wrong and need to be corrected before they spread their dangerous falsehoods.

also you literally got the banality of evil the wrong way around. the theory doesn't say people do evil things because they think doing them is good, bit rather that they may do evil things without caring about their morality.
the theory says Eichmann didn't do some of the worst crimes against humanity of the Holocaust because he thought exterminating us Jews was a good idea, but that he didn't care for Jews, only for being a good Nazi.

"I say we accept people are bigots and start from there"
I say we don't. and that we start from not accepting the existence of bigotry.

nah I'm not blaming you, what you posted was an appropriate response. it's just important to note that the original "banality of evil" isn't the theory @abreaction seems to believe, that evil is inevitable, and in fact Ardent was opposed to that view.

This paper is indeed an eye opener, but I don't think Hannah Arendt who coined the term did it in order to whitewash nazism https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hannah_Arendt
