Unpopular opinion: That's what I feel like this whole threads blocking behaviour by #mastodon admins is like.

Feels a might-bit ''''arrogant corporation' telling me I can't sideload, or watch this, or download that but that's just me.

The best justification I can come up with for admins blocking Threads is that they don't want it to become the Gmail of the fediverse, that is, a step toward de-facto centralization.

@matt I know there were concerns about it increasing the cost to host and maintain an instance. I for one do not really care either way, I barely used twitter when I was there, I am good with what I’m seeing here.
