I started expounding to my friend (who was born & raised in the UK, but has been Canadian for more than a decade) about the difference, to my California mind, between what is a "diner" and what is a "coffee shop" (and what is a "café", since some folks would think that "coffee shop" is just the US way of expressing that).
I just saw a scene in Seinfeld and realized my somewhat tight definition of "diner" was looser than I thought. #Language
