RT @ricmac@twitter.com

EXCLUSIVE: The first metaverse platform to make it easy for 'normies' to create content (aka User-Generated Content, or UGC) is onto a winner. Won't be Meta — still working on legs — but @thirdroomio@twitter.com, created by @ara4n@twitter.com of @matrixdotorg@twitter.com, now has UGC editor. https://thenewstack.io/third-room-teases-user-generated-content-for-the-metaverse/

Super exciting to see @thirdroomio@twitter.com getting recognition - congrats to @arobertlong@twitter.com (who created it; @ara4n@twitter.com just makes encouraging noises :), @n8bitt@twitter.com & @ajbura_@twitter.com for all the progress. Sandboxed User Generated Content is coming: the first ever Matrix bots which execute in-client(!!!)

... Are we somehow excluding Roblox as a "metaverse" platform now? They've been UGC from day one.

Or second life?
in reply to Andrew (bookseller era)

@ajroach42 that’s more a question for the journo than us. however, neither roblox or SL are open platforms.

@rysiek @Natureshadow we are using UGC to mean “content created by users”, as opposed to content hardcoded into the TR app (as today’s avatars and dynamic objects). the copyright of such UGC would obviously lie with the creator, if they assert it, just the same as content on the web. The only difference is that web browsers don’t hardcode existing content, hence us needing to make the distinction.

@rysiek @Natureshadow perhaps you could say User Authored Content?
The “Generated” makes it sound like it’s merely dumb machine generator.
