Windows Text To Speech Is A Mess #YouTube https://youtu.be/X4ZHECjN80g
in reply to Brodie Robertson

you can improve the mess by using something like NVDA, but the out of the box experience, really does suck. There are some areas in which Linux is way further ahead than most other things. If you've ever encountered monospace fonts, most things don't like reading those. Half the time I don't notice any difference on Linux, whereas other things either don't speak at all, or say monospace this, monospace that and it's really jarring. Same with other weird characters that are letters but have a different unicode identifier to standard characters. Some say mathematical small insert letter here for every letter when reading them, some don't speak at all, and Linux just goes oh this is text just in a different way, I'll just ignore the fact that the characters are different and read it exactly as it should be read.
