I wonder what kinds of tarrifs are being considered for US computer services, like ad publishing, cloud hosting, LLM, labour like consulting and support...

US tech giants take in billions and billions for these services each year. Often without a Canadian subsidiary. Often while stealing copyrighted material produced in Canada. Meta in particular has been uncooperative.

Tariff & tax these foreign services. Encourage Canadians to replace them.

much of Canadian industry is a shell of foreign ownership and offshore delivery. Imagine a company like RBC offshores a support center to save 20%. RBC don't pay any duties or tariffs. RBC deducts 100% of that cost from income. They may or may not pay HST. The offshore company will have a Canadian shell presence that pays zero or negative income tax. An intermediary shell in a low tax region will collect the margin. The offshore labour gets paid almost nothing.
