Each party in each riding should have a proper primary, instead of allowing the incumbent to run only b/c they meet the party requirements, or parachuting, or paper candidate nonsense.
Many incumbents are not remotely deserving going forward, for a number of reasons.
In my riding of Mount Royal, I held my nose and voted for Anthony Housefather.
It was strategic, to keep the CPC down b/c the OTHER parties had ZERO chance of keeping down the CPC.
The fact that the Conservatives increased their vote share and seatsāwhile offering almost nothing of substance to the vast majority of Canadians thanks to deep pockets & microtargeted influence campaignsāshould be alarming to all, and cannot go unchecked between now and the next election.
Just ask any non-millionaire Conservative voter to explain their vote without mentioning Trudeau, and requiring them to specify their new tax rate if they mention tax cuts.
Actually, elevating Karina Gould should be the second thing PM Carney does.
The first should be taking affirmative, high profile public steps to protect our information spaces from corporate America, like requiring all government social media accounts to post from the government's brand new Mastodon instance (allowing mirrors to other platforms).
Otherwise, if Zuck, Musk & others can do as they please with our communications, Carney won't be PM for very long.

As we're voting across the country, remember that the previous Harper CPC gov, and specifically #Poilievre as the relevant Minister, installed a bunch of steps to discourage voting, and remove Elections Canada's impartiality.
That mess was quickly removed with Bill C76 after the #CPC was booted out.
