The Digital Services Tax was already a watered down alternative to making these companies collect regular sales tax. 3% instead of 13% (in Ontario). So now Carney is okay with taxing them zero percent, cool cool cool, extra benefits for the richest companies in the world #cdnPoli

in reply to Sam Nabi • • •we have coporate income tax and they don't. So there are plenty of examples.
The capital gain tax for example is proof that the tax code is made for the richest. And any sort of sales tax only impact the lower incomes since the richest already skirt it with them "incorporating".

in reply to Sam Nabi • • •@hub These companies already have to charge GST for paid services in Canada. The DST was more about all the ad income the companies generate from Canadian users.
Personally I see no gain to Canada from tossing the current negotiations out the window just for the DST. That said I’d hope some replacement for it becomes part of those negotiations.
