If you are building a social application that is NOT a microblogging application, why would one choose #ActivityPub? What concrete advantages—not theoretical nor dependent on the rest of the world changing—does it give you?
I’ve had a Friendica
account on the fediverse almost since day one, even if I didn’t actively use it initially. In 2018 I started heavily using Diaspora
and Mastodon
instead of it since I preferred their simpler UIs.

in reply to Hrefna (DHC) • • •I can comment on a PeerTube video very easily thanks to its support for (Mastodon’s flavor of) ActivityPub. I just comment from my Akkoma instance.
Same goes for e.g. AP-enabled WordPress blog posts.

But it is not easy, and it is another thing to maintain. @hankg wrote an article a couple years ago about some of the issues as he saw them.
